What makes you feel happy and satisfied in life? If you ask me this question, I would say a good, loving, and caring family, close friends, and well-run relationships bring happiness in life. People are either obsessed with what has happened in the past or what will happen in the future whereas life is all about what is happening at the present moment. By constantly thinking about the past or just worrying about the future, they only miss everything that is happening in the present.

Whatever happened to you before, you cannot do anything about it now. You know nothing about the future. So it is advisable to live in the present, enjoy the moment and be happy.

Dream about good and positive things in life. Unhappy people are dull people, boring in other words. To dream about the future and opportunities and to work for the realization of those dreams is really what I myself would have on top of my list to be happy. There is nothing better and more satisfying than to slowly but surely get closer and closer to your dream.

Such a dream could be anything. It might be to buy a house and renovate it, to get in shape or anything else for that matter. Only you really want to achieve it. People do not know that they have to make an effort to be happy.

Do not be in a bad state of mind and health. Your health is your life and therefore, you have to take care of your health at any cost. Start immediately if you do not do it now. To exercise actually gives happiness.

Do not compare yourself with others. Those who compare themselves with others – with colleagues, neighbors, relatives, or whoever it is should knock it off immediately. You are unique and your own person and really you do not know a thing about how happy your neighbor is or someone else. You only judge others by what you see of them externally.

But every one of them have their own problems and shortcomings and struggling to deal with it. Human beings have a natural urgency to make comparisons. They always compare themselves with others. They compare their income with other peoples’ income, they compare their kids performance with other individuals kids’ etc. Making comparisons cannot be always considered bad, but the important thing is what you compare with. If you want to compare, why don’t you compare your persona with your own personality? For instance, you can compare the current you with the past you. You can make comparisons between the person you were one year ago with the person you are now. This will help you understand yourself letting you see the progress you have made. You also need to be kinder to your self as well as the people around you. If you are hard on yourself and hard on other people, you are likely to be very pessimist. Pessimism ultimately kills you. Kindness makes you a better person. Kindness also makes you a happy person.
